'Caste'ing a spell on New India
Indian civilization- one of the most ancient civilization developed, flourished in the valley of river Indus over past 10,000 years of known history. They developed an unique cadre system known as 'Varna' (वर्ण ) based on important, required duties to be performed for a society or it will be worth to say "to become a society" in contrast to cavemen, junglemen.
The one who has a recitable knowledge of Vedas or who wants study those is a 'Brahmana'.
The one who will do trading, earn, store wealth, grains is a 'Vaishyas'
The one who will protect, rule and administrate the territory, people living there is a 'Kshatriya' (क्षत्रिय) and last but not the least
The one who will provide service and do laborious work is a 'Kshudra' (क्षुद्र).
These Varnas were then further detailed to distinguish duties, responsibilities, skill superiority more precisely like Sonar (goldsmith), Lohar (blacksmith), Chambhar(shoemaker) or to identify a person geographically like KokaNstha, Deshstha brahmin etc. to form a caste/identity of a person/group.
It was an excellent idea of our ancestors to divide the work, intellect force into these different teams based on their capabilities, capacities to ensure the development & advancement of the society. This is nothing different than having different departments in a company to ensure the sustainable growth of the organization. However over the years, centuries and millenniums the Caste system has grown so strong on people's mind that it has become a drag chain for the mighty Indian elephant in the jungles of modernization, globalization.
This threat is known to us for years now. India is fortunate to produce reformist like Vivekanand, Phule, Savarkar, Raja Ram Mohan Roy to name a few and they have dedicated their lives to educate society about the negatives of adherence to the caste system. They devoted their lives, preaching various ways to uncuff this elephant from 'caste'. Since these known reforms, very little next to nothing got reformed nevertheless walls among castes became more & more thick due to reservation system in education, government services, no tolerance to inter-caste/ inter-religion marriages. So correcting this issue is not my foray and is beyond my scope.
However if we do the SWOT (Strength-Weakness-Opportunity-Threat) matrix of India's growth story, Caste has became a 'Threat' to Indian Elephant's victorious walk and has became our "Weakness" where political, religious leaders, Enemy countries easily exploit the society and evoke riots often disrupting businesses, industries, schools, colleges laying roadblocks in the growth story.
and also thanks to pseudo pundits and instant judges on social media, we seem to become more polarized and introvert with our castes and this is going to impact the growth rate of India.. wait a minute, I want to change a paradigm here...What if we turn our weakness up side down and look at "Caste system" as our strength?
With this shift in paradigm, what if we use caste as a medium for a collective growth, excellence of caste based groups in the society?
Let's take an example of the "Aadhar linking to PAN, bank account, phone number etc."
We understand this move by government will curb down the tax invading, will promote the transparent transactions and will keep check on the use of cellphones for terrorist/ anti-national acts. But we fear the long queues, prolonged processing time in government offices, banks. Convenience of use of websites is beyond scope of many mobile data pack users whose internet usage is limited to Facebook & WhatsApp.
[Govt. of India, Income Tax Dept. published that in 2020-21, out of 132Crore (1.3Billon) only 8.8crore(0.09Billion) pay taxes and carries burden of remaining 1.2Billion no tax payers]
Can political party formed for a specific caste, religious leaders take up the responsibility of linking Aadhar cards of their members/ followers?
+ What if party creates a support system to its members enabling them access, help to link Aadhar online, that will be the real service to people.
+ What if party 'Karyakartas' take turns to stand in queue at bank/ govt. offices for senior/ disabled citizens. They can do this for same caste citizens as of them, no issues in that.
+ What if party leader/ Baba of dera, Ashram declares that he/she will ensure Aadhar linkage of his/her clines within an year.
If leaders are willing, this can be applied in various ways like ensuring read/ write capabilities, internet banking, e-literacy. If you take so much pride in your caste then take up this challenge to enable people of your caste with these modern days necessity, requirements.
In the advanced countries, where political parties struggle to find the "Common Divisor" for party's agenda, we, Indians have a "Most Common Divisor" as in form of 'Caste' in front of us.
Can we use this MCD in our favor to unshackle Mighty Elephant and fuel up India's Growth story or we will fall a prey and dismember our society.

हि समाजाची व्यवस्था पण सुटसुटीत होती,
ज्याला वेदांचे पठण ज्ञान आहे किंवा ज्याला त्यांचा अभ्यास हवा आहे तो 'ब्राह्मण' होय.
जो व्यापार करेल, कमवेल, संपत्ती, धान्य साठवेल तो 'वैश्य'.
जो प्रदेशाचे रक्षण करेल, राज्य करेल आणि प्रशासन करेल, तिथे राहणारे लोक 'क्षत्रिय' (क्षत्रिय) आणि शेवटचे पण कमी नाहीत.
जो सेवा देईल आणि कष्टाचे काम करेल तो 'क्षुद्र'.
या वर्णांचे नंतर कर्तव्ये, जबाबदाऱ्या, कौशल्याचे श्रेष्ठत्व वेगळे करण्यासाठी सोनार, लोहार, चांभार किंवा कोकणस्थ, देशस्थ ब्राह्मण इत्यादी भौगोलिकदृष्ट्या एखाद्या व्यक्तीची ओळख पटविण्यासाठी तपशीलवार विभाजन केले गेले.
समाजाचा विकास सुनिश्चित करण्यासाठी त्यांच्या बुद्धी, शक्ती कार्यक्षमतेच्या आधारे या वेगवेगळ्या संघांमध्ये विभागणे ही आपल्या पूर्वजांची उत्कृष्ट कल्पना होती. कुठल्याही एखाद्या कंपनीची शाश्वत वाढ सुनिश्चित करण्यासाठी कंपनीमध्ये वेगवेगळे विभाग असण्यापेक्षा हे काही वेगळे नाही. मात्र, गेल्या काही वर्षांत, शतकानुशतके आणि सहस्राब्दी लोकांच्या मनावर जातीव्यवस्था इतकी मजबूत झाली आहे की आधुनिकीकरणाच्या, जागतिकीकरणाच्या जंगलातील बलाढ्य भारतीय हत्तीसाठी हा एक साखळदंड बनला आहे.हा धोका आपल्याला वर्षानुवर्षे माहीत आहे. विवेकानंद, फुले, सावरकर, राजा राम मोहन रॉय यांच्यासारखे सुधारणावादी निर्माण करण्याचे भाग्य भारताला आहे आणि त्यांनी आपले जीवन जातीव्यवस्थेचे पालन करण्याच्या नकारात्मकतेबद्दल समाजाला प्रबोधन करण्यासाठी समर्पित केले आहे. त्यांनी या हत्तीला 'जाती'पासून मुक्त करण्यासाठी विविध मार्गांनी उपदेश करत आपले जीवनकार्य संपवले पण जात काही जाता गेली नाही. त्यांच्या पश्चात आपण शिक्षण, सरकारी सेवांमधे जातीनुसार आरक्षण, आंतरजातीय/आंतरधर्मीय विवाहांप्रती असहिष्णुता यामुळे जातींमधील भिंती अधिकाधिकच जाड करत गेलो. हि अशी जातीव्यवस्था सुधारण्याची क्षमता माझ्यात नाही आणि तो माझ्या प्रांत पण नाही.
भारताच्या वाढीच्या SWOT (Strength-Weakness-Opportunity-Threats)/ ब.कम.सं.धो (बलस्थान-कमकुवतपणा-संधी-धोका) गुणोत्तरामधे, जात हा भारतीय हत्तीच्या विजयी वाटचालीसाठी 'धोका' बनला आहे आणि आमचा "कमकुवतपणा" बनला आहे जिथे राजकीय, धार्मिक नेते, शत्रूराष्ट्रे सहजपणे याचा फायदा घेतात आणि दंगली घडवून आणतात ज्यामुळे उद्योग, शाळा, महाविद्यालये ठप्प होतात, व्यवसायात व्यत्यय येतो आणि सरतेशेवटी भारताच्या प्रगतीच्या वाटचालीमधे अडथळे निर्माण होतात.
आणि सोशल मीडियावरील छद्म पंडित आणि झटपट न्यायाधीशांना धन्यवाद, ज्यांच्यामुळे आम्ही आमच्या जातींबद्दल आणखीनच अंतर्मुख झालो आहोत आणि समाजाचे अधिक ध्रुवीकरण झाले आहे. याचा परिणाम भारताच्या विकास दरावर होणार आहे.. थांबा.. थांबा.. थांबा, मला येथेच आपला विचार, समज बदलायचा आहे..."जातिव्यवस्था" ही आपली ताकद का नाही होऊ शकत? जातीनी समाजाचं एवढं घट्ट संघटन केलेलंच आहे तर त्याचा वापर आपल्या, देशाच्या भल्यासाठी का नाही करायचा आपण?
समाजातील जाती-आधारित गटांच्या सामूहिक वाढीसाठी, उत्कृष्टतेसाठी आपण जातीचा वापर केला तर?
"PAN, बँक खाते, फोन नंबर इत्यादीशी आधार लिंक करणे" चे उदाहरण घेऊ.
आम्हाला कळतंय की आधार-पॅन कार्डाच्या सुसूत्रतेमुळे कर चुकवेगीरी, चोरीवर नियंत्रण राहिल आणि त्यातून अतिमतः भारताची प्रगती होईल. (२०२०-२१ च्या Income Tax Ministry च्या आकडेवारीनुसार, ११० करोंड जनतेपैकी केवळ ८.८ करोंड म्हणजे ६.६% जनता कर भरते आणि उरलेल्या ९३.४% म्हणजे १०० करोंड जनतेचा भार वाहते). सगळं आमच्या समोर आहे पण सरकारी कार्यालये, बँकांमध्ये लांबलचक रांगा, प्रक्रियेसाठी लागणारा वेळ याची भीती वाटते आणि बरचसे नागरिक दैनंदिन कार्य सांभाळून हे करू नाही शकत.
अशा लोकांसाठी, विशिष्ट जातीच्या उत्थानसाठीसाठी स्थापन केलेले राजकीय पक्ष, धार्मिक नेते त्यांच्या सदस्यांचे/अनुयायांचे आधार कार्ड लिंक करण्याची जबाबदारी घेतली तर?
+ पक्ष 'कार्यकर्ते' जर बँकेत/सरकारी कार्यालयात, ज्येष्ठ / अपंग/ व्यावसायिक कार्यामुळे येऊ न शकणाऱ्या नागरिकांसाठी उपस्थित राहिले तर? जातीचा जाज्वल्य अभिमान बाळगणारे कार्यकर्ते स्वजातीतील नागरिकांसाठी
